With the current conditions looking very similar to those that led to the water crisis in 2018, Florida is sounding the alarm on LOSOM, emphasizing the need for the Corps build better equity into the new lake management plan.

As the Corps finalizes the new Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM), stakeholders from across Florida are demanding that the the plan prioritizes reducing harmful discharges to the coastal estuaries by sending more water south from Lake Okeechobee to the Everglades during the dry season and providing more capacity for the rainy season.
